Los Angeles Skin Care Experts
Dr. Leroy is an experienced physician providing state-of-the-art skin care procedures that deliver outcomes without drastically interrupting your busy lifestyle. Procedures like Microdermabrasion and chemical peels may be recommended during your customized initial consultation, and are often combined with BOTOX®, dermal fillers, and skin care products to provide holistic solutions that restore confidence and take years off of your face.
Clients benefit from Dr. Leroy’s licensed medical expertise during their time at our practice and have access to our physician-nurse team throughout all procedures and visits.
Goal of Medical Skin Care Procedures
The purpose of our recommended skin care procedures is to establish or re-establish skin health and wellness while developing a successful maintenance program based on the latest technologies.
Over time, the skin can become dull and lifeless due to the buildup of dead surface cells. These cells slow new cell turnover and prevent proper absorption of your skin care products. Microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and microneedling eliminate these dead cells, improve brown spots, lighten scars, and stimulate collagen production to create a healthier appearance. In addition, these medical procedures increase penetration of topical cleansers, toners, serums, and moisturizers.
During Microdermabrasion, a non-invasive stream of fine crystals is applied to remove dead skin cells, polish and “buff” the skin, and improve acne scars and sun damage. Microdermabrasion also reduces pore size, diminishes wrinkles, and decreases excessive pigmentation. Once the procedure is complete, clients find that makeup glides on smoothly and retains its smooth look over the course of the day, rather than developing a caked-on appearance.
Chemical peels elicit a controlled chemical reaction that restores vibrancy and health to the skin. A peel gently removes the outer layer of skin cells to reveal healthy, underlying cells. Interestingly, Cleopatra used her own version of a chemical peel when she applied sour milk to her skin. The ingredients in this application are similar to today’s alpha hydroxyl acid and lactic acid peels, which are effective for women of all ages.
Microneedling, also called “collagen induction therapy” (CIT), uses an array of tiny needles to create micro-injuries to the skin’s surface. After needling occurs, the skin begins to produce collagen and elastin for healing. This improves the skin’s surface, minimizes scars, reduces the size of pores, and plumps thinning areas. Microneedling is especially effective for areas that may not withstand chemical peels, such as mouth, eyes, hands, and chest.
Acne or blue light therapy is an effective treatment for reducing pore size, minimizing oil secretion, and killing the bacteria responsible for acne growth. Dr. Leroy uses the DUSA Medical Product BLU-U for this photodynamic therapy (PDT) process. Clients experience a painless, brief exposure to blue fluorescent lights after our team applies an amino acid to reduce breakouts and inflammation. You may require a series of treatments, but this procedure often allows clients to discontinue use of topical acne medications like Accutane or Retin-A. Blue light therapy is particularly helpful for frustrating forms of adult acne.
The Vampire Facelift® restores tone and texture to aging skin. During aging the face begins to lose collagen, causing it to sag and change shape. As circulation decreases, skin is depleted of color and looks “worn” due to texture changes. In many cases, however, a surgical facelift can be avoided. During the minimally invasive Vampire Facelift, Dr. Leroy uses hyaluronic acid fillers (Restylane or Juvederm) to plump skin and restore facial shape. Then, he isolates growth factors from your blood and injects them into areas of concern. The growth factors activate stem cells, which develop into collagen tissue, fatty tissue, and new blood vessels. The result is healthier, younger looking skin without costly surgery.
